Welcome to Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s Software Engineer Virtual Experience.

As a Software Engineer you will be tasked with solving a wide range of problems in order to meet the requirements of a client. This is done by applying the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of computer software. The role is challenging, fast paced, and endlessly rewarding.​ ​ ​ ​

What you’ll learn

In this virtual experience, you will be working on an imaginary project that follows standard defence contracting practices. You will gain experience in:

• Analysing requirements to produce a conceptual design
• Implementing software to meet client requirements
• The development lifecycle of a defence contract
• GPS data formats and interfaces

What you will do

Module 1: Requirements and Design

30 mins - 1 hour

Help develop a Sub-System Design Document based on client Requirements

Module 2: GPS Storage Service

30 minutes - 1 hour

Develop an application to convert from an NMEA interface to a GPX one

Module 3: Errors

30 minutes - 1 hour

Solve errors that arise in the field

Module 4: Overspeed

30 minutes - 1 hour

Implement a new feature for auditing

Module 5: Track Sections

30 minutes - 1 hour

Implement a new feature for displaying sections
